President of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and Salga National Chairperson Councillor Parks Tau to Address Members of the Media

Members of the media are invited to a media briefing to be addressed by Councillor Parks Tau and the SALGA National Executive Committee, in relation to Cllr Tau’s new role as the United Cities and Local Government (UCLG) President. The prioritisation of local governments in the world and creating distinctive local governments to attain and localise Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDG) is gaining momentum and presents a fresh opportunity to push a new agenda as national governments are duty bound now to involve local actors.

The media briefing will also unpack the upcoming SALGA National Conference which will take place in Johannesburg, at the Sandton International Convention Centre 28 November – 01 December 2016. The SALGA National Conference takes place shortly after the organisation successfully hosted nine (9) provincial conferences nationwide, paving the way for the National Conference in the new local government term 2016 – 2021.
