On behalf of President Obama and the American people, I congratulate the people of the Central African Republic on the occasion of your country’s national day celebration.

America values its friendship with the Central African Republic and applauds your commitment to peace and democracy. Together, we are working to end violence, heal internal divisions, and create a firm foundation for economic and social progress. In the year ahead, we look forward to continued partnership to promote security, good governance, and development.

On this special day, I send my best wishes to all the people of the Central African Republic for a peaceful and prosperous future.
