U.S. Humanitarian Assistance for Flood Response

The United States Embassy in Egypt announced today that is it providing $50,000 to the Egyptian Red Crescent to help the people affected by recent flooding in Egypt. The humanitarian assistance funding announced today will allow the Red Crescent to provide critical supplies for families in need.

In addition to this funding, the United States recently provided six vacuum trucks to the Assiut Potable Water and Sanitation Company to improve sanitation in rural villages. These trucks were put to immediate use to remove water and wastewater from streets in Assiut this week.

Egyptian government agencies and the Egyptian Red Crescent are providing emergency assistance to affected areas in Sohag, Assiut, South Sinai, and Red Sea governorates. Assistance includes distributing food, clearing roads, and sending medical convoys to affected areas.

The American people express our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery.
